"Electric Lady"

I wanted to produce a portrait that was a bit out of the norm.  One late night this whacky idea popped into my head. McKenzie's father owns an electrical company. A secret plan was hatched; make a really fun portrait she could present to dad as a Father's Day surprise!

We had a great time making the image. I heard the gift was received with positively shocking surprise!

Sports Photography - Canyon Creek Cougars, Women's Varsity Basketball

I love to shoot sports events. It's probably one of my most favorite types of photography. I get a rush of adrenaline before the game begins and I feel excitement building in the moments before the start. Lots of self conversation and questions are buzzing through my mind. I try to get in the zone and focused, mentally prepare. I shut everything non-essential out of my head. "Where's the best spot gonna be? Is the camera setup and ready to go? Do I have the right lenses on hand and ready. Are my camera focus settings right? Backup gear ready?" Pretest everything one more time. Shoot the players, some crowd, check, recheck.

GAMETIME! GO!

Madison Taylor Young

We had such great fun photographing Madison in the studio! She has the coolest personality and an awesome wardrobe! It was hard to decide what to shoot first. She was such a great sport about trying new looks. At one time I had her dancing in place which was super fun to watch, even though my idea was less than successful picture wise we had a lot of laughs over it. It's worth it to try a few out of bounds things, once you know you have the good stuff "in the can".

Max was there to provide entertainment and photobomb the session too! Good times.

Product Photography - Dasha Designs

I was contacted by Dasha to photograph a series of bags that arrived late in their product cycle.  They needed images for their 2015 product catalog and were on a tight schedule to make the catalog deadline. Specifications for the images were discussed. The image color needed to be correct and the "DANCE" logo needed to appear prominently in each photograph. Also, they wanted the bags surrounded in a complete white setting. Since the bags are covered in clear sequins, the light had to be setup just right to eliminate bright specular reflections that degrade color quality. I've produced many product images and knew the lighting setup needed to create an elegant image with rich color that would jump off the catalog page.

Dasha Designs has been in business since 1984, with over 1300 retail customers in the US, Puerta Rico, and Canada. Dasha is a wholesale distributor of products for the dancer, gymnastics, skating and cheerleading. "Customers comment on the beautiful appearance of our products; even saying shipments are fun to unpack!" Dasha is distinguished from other vendors by offering many items not found elsewhere. Ten product lines include: Hair Goods, Skirts, Bags, Jewelry, Hair Jewelry, Basics, Cosmetics, Costume and Dress Up, Gifts, and Hair Extensions/Falls.  Many of the items they carry are their own exclusive designs.

The bags were photographed at my Parkhurst Studio and the images were delivered to Dasha on time. They were thoroughly pleased with the results!

Ann and Benny's Wedding

Every wedding has it's own unique elements, whether it's the music, the colors, the guests, or the location. Ann and Benny's Wedding was the most spectacular wedding I've ever witnessed. I met some of the nicest and warmest people. The wedding day consisted of three separate unique and fabulous parts, a morning traditional ceremony at the brides parent's home. Steeped in tradition, Benny and his party arrived marching through the street carrying gifts to present to the bride's parents.  Then a temple ceremony, and an evening party where Ann wore a traditional American wedding gown. Each one was a feast for the senses.
